Future Tracks has huge potential to add extra value to the school life of young people. This project is one of Scotland’s leading outdoor education programmes. It delivers long-term development and a tangible, positive impact in cross-curricular learning.


The Future Tracks project is aimed at young people who are not engaging fully with their timetable. They might be at risk, displaying challenging behaviour or have specific learning needs.

Future Tracks meets the needs of the students so it can be delivered as a short course comprising one day a week over multiple weeks or four days a week for a full academic year.

The Future Tracks project focuses on providing personal, social and skills development, the guidance of a mentor reach their potential and opportunities to gain qualifications.

Young people will leave the Future Tracks project with increased confidence, essential personal and professional experience and recognised qualifications that will increase their employability.

Project Aims

  • Engage young people so they commit their time to the Future Tracks Project
  • Foster personal and social development through outdoor and experience education
  • Facilitate young people to re-engage with education

Project Outcomes

  • Increased attendance during the school week
  • Increased social skills within timetabled subjects
  • Reduced anti-social behaviour within the school environment
  • Increased employability skills and awareness of future direction (Senior groups)
  • Gain National Qualifications and bespoke records of achievement

For the past few weeks these S2 boys from @MuirhouseYouth and @CCHSEdinburgh have been learning bike mechanics, Today they put there skills to the test and fixed a fleet of bikes for @forthview_ps well done boys!. 🚴🏻‍♂️🔧⭐️

It was great to show @chr15mtn from @SocEntScot what we do and get him involved in one of our activities, we spent the day coasteering and joined up with the holiday club for the perfect opportunity to see what we are all about at @MYDGAdventure 🙂 #socent #buysocial
